PHOTOGRAPHY

Photographic study of Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Ontario

2005 to 2015

Between the period of 2005 and 2015, I had the opportunity to photograph the interior of the Library of Parliament, as well as the Memorial Chamber and the heritage rooms in East Block. As Centre Block closed to the public for major renovations and rehabilitation work in January of 2019, I put together a collection of 50 images marking my favorite photographs of Parliament Hill. Sprinkled within this selection are a handful of archival images I came across (and collected) as part of my research for a master's thesis on the visual representations of Ottawa’s famed buildings. The series begins with an image (see below) taken high above the Reading Room of the Library of Parliament: a small utility door opens up to the drum of the lantern; the view presents the most spectacular angle of the inner dome of the library. Click here to view the full set of 50 photographs.
